Therefore, it is generally believed that the ideal length of the glass fiber in the thermoplastic tree matrix should be 5 times its critical length. The critical length refers to the minimum length necessary for the stress of the glass fiber in a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic of a given diameter to reach its impact fracture stress value.


Because in glass fiber reinforced plastics, the length of glass fiber can transmit stress only when it reaches a certain length and act as a reinforcing material. Otherwise, it is high-grade CaCO3, so an optimal length is needed. However, even if the optimal length value is found, it cannot be 100% guaranteed that the effective length of the glass fiber in the product is this value, because the processing equipment and technology have a great influence on the final effective length of the glass fiber.
