A Brief Analysis of Three Major Differences in Flame Resistance Between Flame-Retardant PP and PC

    Difference 1: Different Burning Rates

     Flame-retardant PC burns more slowly than flame-retardant PP. Its flame is blue accompanied by dense smoke. By contrast, flame-retardant PP burns faster with a yellow flame and little smoke.

    Difference 2: Different Post-Combustion States

     Flame-retardant PC forms leaf-like debris after burning, while flame-retardant PP produces molten pellets.

   Difference 3: Different Flame Retardants

    Tetraphenyl phosphate is used as the flame retardant for flame-retardant PC, whereas phosphine is adopted for flame-retardant PP.

In summary, flame-retardant PC and flame-retardant PP show different behaviors during combustion, yet both are designed to achieve flame retardancy. Therefore, material selection should be based on actual application requirements, such as burning rate and smoke generation.
